125th Anniversary

Sierra Club, America’s largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization, celebrated its 125th anniversary with the Trail Blazers Ball at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. It was a star-studded event, featuring a who’s who of people from both Silicon Valley and Hollywood, including activists and donors Shailene Woodley and Michael Bloomberg. The celebration highlighted Sierra Club’s historic work at the federal, state, and local levels to protect millions of acres of wild land and its push to create a 100% clean energy economy. Our entire event design, from the branding to the promotional items, highlighted iconic tree rings as a metaphor for the growth of the organization over time.

As a feature of the event, we created an interactive art project on which people were encouraged to write their promises for how they personally would contribute to the future of the planet. Their pledges were written on top of the 125-year tree lines, weaving them into the narrative of the ever-expanding future.
